First and foremost, I always take a client-centered approach that prioritizes your unique needs. Whether you’re looking to heal from trauma and other longstanding emotional wounds or simply navigate difficult life transitions, I always tailor my approach according to your goals for therapy. I work primarily from evidence-based behavioral therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I often combine elements from these different modalities to best suite your needs.

In a therapy session with me, you can expect a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can freely express yourself. We will work collaboratively to explore your thoughts and feelings, identify patterns and triggers, develop coping strategies, and set goals for your well-being. Sessions may involve discussions, reflections, mindfulness exercises, and between-session practice to support your progress outside of therapy.
-
I meet with the majority of my clients on a weekly basis. I ask that all new clients commit to meeting weekly for at least the first 3 weeks. This will allow us to get the ball rolling so you can start seeing progress right away. I may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.

The short answer: it totally depends on the person’s individual needs and goals.
Long answer: Some people may find that they’ve met their goals in 3-6 months and no longer need regular therapy. Some have several complex issues that may take longer-term to process and heal. Others may opt to check in from time to time as needed. Some may enjoy having ongoing support and find it helpful to have a set time/place to process their thoughts and feelings. -
How do I actually use my out-of-network benefits?
Most insurance companies have you upload your superbills (which you receive automatically from my client portal) online and then they will mail you a check with your reimbursement. Generally, your insurance company may reimburse you for 60-90% of each session.
Because I partner with Reimbursify, you can verify your benefits to see how much your insurance company will reimburse you for each session with me. Check your benefits for free using this link:

Both! I have in-office availability 4 days/week in my Arlington, VA office. However, you’re not locked into in-person or virtual format. Life happens and stuff comes up, so if you usually see me in-person but you’re having an especially busy day or week, we can absolutely switch back and forth from in-person to virtual as-needed.

I’m licensed to practice clinical social work in Virginia and Washington, DC. However I can see anybody that is willing to drive to my office in Arlington; e.g. if you live in Maryland, I could still see you for therapy so long as you drive toamy office. I’m also registered as a Professional Social Work telehealth provider in South Carolina (TLS 747 CP), so I’m able to see clients that reside in SC.
For telehealth, I can see you for virtual sessions so long as you’re physically located in VA, DC, or SC at the time of the session.
